David Spann has been a part of the Austin music scene since the later seventies in lots of bands, groups, playing side man and often leader. Eventually he was enlisted as the original guitarist for ex-Kansas lead singer / keyboardist Steve Walsh’s band “Streets” in 1981 (based out of Atlanta). Steve could be credited as David’s major vocalist songwriter mentor. David built a reputation over the years as a fiery performer and student of the guitar. Exceptional compositions that manage to capture the listener’s imagination and showcase virtuosity.

David Spann has been billed with a host of legendary guitarists such as Steve Morse (now with Deep Purple), Al DiMeola, Johnny Winter, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Johnson, Robin Trower, Jon Schofeild, Roy Buchanan, Monte Montgomery and many, many more…

An in demand session guitarist; David plays on CD projects, jingles, product manufactures and internet dealer websites.  He and his band’s music are also featured on the Vox Tonelab and Tonelab SE demonstration audio CD.

A friend and college Eric Johnson once admired David’s work in his first Guitar Player Magazine interview, cover story May, 1986.

David also worked for the exclusive American distributor of Marshall and Vox amplifiers; Korg USA. He was very busy traveling the country (USA) and occasionally overseas as a guitar product specialist / demonstrator and digital recording presenter. A co-worker at Korg nicknamed David; “The Texas Twister” which is starting to stick.

He also teaches courses on guitar evolution and its accompanying equipment around the country and is working on a fascinating new book with the help of a host of true pioneering innovators in the field.
